PROJECT: DRY SEASON VEGETABLE GARDEN FENCING<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday, 27th June, a team consisting of members from SIGRA, the Department of Agriculture, community representatives from Wulensi and Nakpayili, as well as support from the Nanumba South District Assembly, came together to construct a fence for the dry season vegetable project sponsored by Co-water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The objective of the project is to establish a dry season vegetable garden utilizing a nature-based solution using the Jatorofa plant, funded by the Canadian-based organization, SIGRA. The implementation of this project is being overseen by the Nanumba South District Assembly with support from Asawaba Farms Limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team, comprised of 4 women and 4 men, alongside the Assembly man for Wulensi Central, worked together diligently under challenging weather conditions to clear the land, dig holes for the fence posts, and secure the fence in place. The project’s environmental specialist emphasized the importance of utilizing natural base solutions to promote sustainability and climate-smart agricultural practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout the day, the team demonstrated a high level of dedication and collaboration, with community members actively participating and showing gratitude for the opportunity to be involved in the project. The camaraderie among the group fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose, creating a positive working environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project is seen as an innovative approach that could serve as a model for other districts looking to implement similar initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In conclusion, the pegging of Jatorofa as a fence for the dry season vegetable garden was a successful endeavour, made possible through the joint efforts of various stakeholders.
